Galatians 5:1-6
Big Idea: Do NOT live like a slave. STAND FIRM in freedom.
What are we free from?
1) The Power of Sin
- You don’t have to sin
2) The Law & God’s Wrath
- You don’t have to earn
- You don’t have to fear
Circumcision Represents: Anything that you think is essential to your salvation or status with God (Aside from Christ).
Legalism: The enemy of freedom
- Being trapped in legalism produces the same results as being trapped in sin
Faith, not works, is what assures your salvation.
- It’s not about how much faith you can muster, it’s about surrendering to Jesus.
Philippians 3:8-9: Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—
Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Faith, not works, is what assures your salvation.
