Religious Games
Mark 12:13-27
Introduction:
Amos 5:21 “I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.”
Isaiah 1:14 “your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers I will not listen.”
Four Games Religious People Play
1. Flattery
2. Ulterior motives
3. Selective obedience
Our excuses:
1. God understands why I don’t obey-
2. God wouldn’t want me to obey if it doesn’t make me happy-
3. God is the reason why I don’t obey-
4. Feigned interest
