Rest in God’s faithful care
Text: Psalm 23

C.S. Lewis said, “If you find yourself with a desire that no experience in this world can satisfy, then the most probably explanation is that you were made for another world.”

BIG IDEA: Unparalleled satisfaction is found in all that God is for you in Jesus

1. The satisfying shepherd (1-4)
1a. In relationship- 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.-
2a. In provision-
1b. Rest- 2a He makes me lie down in green pastures.-
2b. Renewal- 3a He restores my soul-
3a. In guidance-
1b. As leader- 2b He leads me beside still waters.- . 3b He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake- John Piper, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.”
2b. As protector- 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

2. The satisfying host (5-6)
1a. In abundance- 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;- . You anoint my head with oil;- . My cup overflows-
2a. In pursuit- 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever-

BIG IDEA: Unparalleled satisfaction is found in all that God is for you in Jesus

Conclusion:
John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
John 10:3-4 “The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice” (John 10:3-4).

Do you know his voice? Do you follow Jesus? You will never be satisfied until you find satisfaction in Jesus.
