1. The Plan

1. Abide in Christ- 4As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious-

2. Be built into God’s building- 5you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house,-

3. Be built into God’s priesthood- to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ-

Spiritual sacrifices:

1. Offering your body (Rom 12:1-2)

2. Praising God (Heb 13:15)

3. Praying (Rev 8:3)

4. Doing good (Heb 13:16)

5. Bring people to Christ (Rom 15:16)

6. Sharing one’s resources (Heb 13:16)

7. Sacrificing one’s desires for the good of others (Eph 5:2).

Where are you serving?

4. To the one who believes, Jesus is the cornerstone- 6For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.-

5. To the one who disbelieves, Jesus is the stumbling stone- 7So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.-

2. The People

1. A chosen race- humble us-

2. A royal priesthood- use us-

3. A holy nation- purify us-

4. A people for his own possession- remind us-

5. A people for mercy- change us- Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; one you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.-

Identity fuels mission. Gospel truth leads to gospel action

3. The Purpose

Be Proclaimers!- that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light-

Application: This changes your view of everything in your life. It gives meaning to everything that you do. Life is your missions field!
